Since the launch of the Jungle Scout Market in June 2018 we have had thousands of freelancers apply to join the app, hundreds of them get selected to sell their Amazon services, but only one of them has reached over 100 customer reviews.
It takes a very special person to become a top freelancer on any marketplace. There is so much competition and it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. Come to think of it freelancing is very similar to selling on Amazon. If you’re selling a service just like everyone else then it’s harder to compete.
But if you manage to differentiate yourself from the competition you have a much better chance at winning over customers.
The 3 top qualities you should look for in a freelancer are:
- Value – Underpromising and overdelivering to WOW the customer and exceed their expectations.
- Price – Providing an affordable price for the quality of work delivered in a fast timeline.
- Responsiveness – Responding to customer questions and inquiries in under 24hrs and providing revisions if they are unhappy with the first draft of work.
If you can find a freelancer that offers all three of these you have yourself a top freelancer.
To celebrate our top freelancer achieving 100 customer reviews before anyone else we wanted to know what makes him so special. How did he manage to rise to the top before anyone else? How did he manage to provide services to over 100 customers and always receive a 5-star review?
We asked our top freelancer Brian from BC Consulting these questions and here were his answers…
How did you get into the Amazon selling scene?
I have always been interested in starting my own online business but never knew what to get into. I constantly searched the internet on how to make money online. I came across an article about importing products from China and selling on Amazon and thought that was amazing that a regular guy like me can do that. From that moment, over 4 years ago, I read everything I could about selling on Amazon and just jumped right in.
How long have you been selling on Amazon?
I have been selling on Amazon for over 4 years.
What made you want to start freelancing?
I have learned a lot about selling on Amazon over the years and have sold lots of different products using a few different business models. I figured I had enough knowledge and experience with this, that I can help other Amazon sellers with their business, while also adding another income stream at the same time. I enjoy helping new and experienced sellers and sharing the knowledge I have learned over the years of selling.
What do you like and don’t like about freelancing?
I like how happy the client is with the work that I have done for them. Makes me feel like I am making a difference in their business and I truly do enjoy helping others. I don’t like the difficult people that I have to deal with sometimes. I have no problem revising any work or continuing to answer questions, but I don’t want to be taken advantage of or feel like someone is trying to scam me.
What’s your favorite thing about being a top freelancer on the Jungle Scout Market?
I have more and more people coming to me which is not only great for my business but I am able to make an impact in many other Amazon businesses as well.
How did you reach 100 reviews way before anyone else on the Jungle Scout Market?
Well, being one of the first freelancers on the site definitely helped but by having unique service offerings at good pricing is what made my freelancing business jump-start the way it did. I believe in always over delivering on quality and my work, and in turn has helped me gain repeat business.
What kinds of questions should you ask a freelancer that you are considering working with?
Ask them for any work that they have done in the past so you can see the kind of quality they deliver and if seems like it will work for your business.
What criteria should a Seller use to pick the perfect freelancer?
You should look at the feedback that the freelancer has to first see if they deliver quality work and if other sellers in the past are happy. Also, see how they respond to you. You want to work with someone who is not only responsive but friendly and seems very excited to work with you. Price is a big factor as well but I would want to feel like I can trust this person with my business.
What are you noticing Amazon sellers need to work on the most to be successful?
I would say the biggest thing is product selection and figuring out ways to be unique in the fast-growing world of Amazon. Ask for help when you need it from someone more experienced and stop trying to figure everything out on your own.
If someone is new to selling on Amazon what services would you suggest they hire an expert like yourself for?
If you already have a product you are going to sell, the first thing I would suggest is invest in proper product photography. That is one of, if not the most important part of your listing. Second, would be to hire a copywriter to create your product listing for you. Someone who knows how to do proper keyword research and to be sure your listing is fully optimized for search and sales. I see too many listings out there that are violating Amazon’s TOS and wondering why they aren’t getting any sales.
Do you think there is still an opportunity to grow a successful business on Amazon or are the glory days over?
Yes, absolutely. There is no doubt that Amazon is becoming more and more competitive than it ever was, but that does not mean there still isn’t opportunity out there. You need to really dig deep and get creative but there is still plenty of money to be made on Amazon today.
How can someone get in contact with you to learn more about the services you offer?
You can contact me right through the Jungle Scout Market!
I am happy to help you with whatever you need regarding your Amazon business!
